THE NINTH ANNUAL HUKILAU

Since the days of Don the Beachcomber and Trader Vics, "tiki culture" - a style of life, design and entertainment rooted in colorful Polynesian history - has remained a thriving American subculture.

Over the lst several years, however, this culture has become increasingly popular, giving birth to tiki-themed parties, clothing lines and design features in national magazines and newspapers.

Fueling this tiki resurgence has been THE HUKILAU - a four day celebration of all things tiki taking place in Fort Lauderdale.
This convention, traditionally draws more than 1000 tiki connoisseurs, many from out of the country.

The Hukilau is a multi-location event, with most of the festivities taking place at
BAHIA CABANA RESORT, BAHIA MAR HOTEL and at the MAI-KAI.

Over the course of four days and nights, attendees will enjoy live performances by an array of international bands, shop for rare tiki wares and have a chance to see presentations and panel discussions by tiki luminaries throughout the weekend.

And what would a tiki festival be without a special happy hour and dinner at Fort Lauderdale's legendary Mai-Kai?
